Virginia Trip

On Sunday, my mom, sister, Millie Kate and I drove 10 hours up to Richmond, VA to visit my mom's family. Her 99 year old aunt and sister live up there and they hadn't met Millie Kate yet. MK was wonderful the whole trip, we really couldn't have asked for her to be any better. She slept most of the 10 hour drive up and when she was awake, she had her Kanga next to her to sing with and play finger puppets with. When she met Aunt Linny(her 99 year old Great, Great Aunt) she was so cute and just smiled and laughed the whole time! It was such a special moment. Aunt Linny kept saying that Millie Kate was "the cutest thing she'd seen in her whole life". I guess she has forgotten how cute Stephanie and I were, but I guess that happens when your 99!! On Monday my mom's sister and her three grandkids came over. They loved playing with Millie Kate and kept fighting over who got to hold her. They hated it when we put her down for her nap and they would try to sneak in there to get a peak of her sleeping.

While we were there we would put Millie Kate in her bumbo in the middle of the table while we ate. Aunt Linny thought this was the coolest thing and Millie Kate didn't think it was so bad either!!

There is a park up there called Maymont, that our granddaddy use to take us to all the time and we loved it. They have animals, gardens, and the neatest pathways you could explore. Stephanie and I decided we wanted to go since we hadn't been in 15 years of so. It was just as beautiful, except we didn't get to explore any of the pathways since they weren't very stroller friendly, but we had fun anyway and I'm glad we went. The picture above is of the stone steps that go across the pond. This was my favorite part, I loved walking across them when I was little. Again, not very stroller friendly, so I didn't get to this time, but maybe one day we'll take Millie Kate back up there.

It was such a fast trip, but I'm so glad we were able to go. It was very special to take my little girl to my favorite childhood place and to have her meet my aunts. We look forward to taking her back up there this December for Aunt Linny's 100th Birthday party!!!
